S&P/TSX composite up more than 300 points, U.S. stocks also push higher

TORONTO - Canada's main stock index gained more than 300 points in late-morning trading, helped by strength in the base metals sector, while U.S. stock markets also surged higher.

The S&P/TSX composite index was up 321.43 points at 30,429.91.
