Flames sign captain Mikael Backlund to two-year contract extension

CALGARY - The Calgary Flames have signed captain Mikael Backlund to a two-year contract extension, the team announced Wednesday.

The deal carries an average annual value of US$3,250,000. Backlund is entering the final year of a two-year, $9 million deal.
