Final fiscal year-end numbers reveal $249M deficit for Saskatchewan in 2024-25

REGINA - Saskatchewan's government says it's finishing the last fiscal year with a $249-million deficit.聽

The province says the deficit is slightly smaller than the $273-million deficit it projected in the 2024-25 budget.

Finance Minister Jim Reiter says both revenues and expenses increased last year.聽

The province received $990 million more in revenues, which includes a large settlement from tobacco companies.聽

Expenses were up by $970 million due to increases in health, agriculture and natural resources.聽

Saskatchewan's net debt increased by $1.3 billion due to investments into roads, schools and hospitals.聽
