The final, cringeworthy season of 鈥淐urb Your Enthusiasm鈥 and a documentary on Run-D.M.C. are some of the new television, movies, music and games headed to a device near you.

NEW MOVIES TO STREAM
鈥 Regardless of whether you think the 1985 charity anthem 鈥淲e Are the World鈥 is great or not, the making of it is fascinating. Director Bao Nguyen got access to never-before-seen footage and new interviews with Lionel Richie, Bruce Springsteen and Cyndi Lauper to help tell the story of how famous musicians, including Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan, Diana Ross and Stevie Wonder, got together one night for a marathon recording session. that 鈥淭he Greatest Night In Pop" humanizes "some of these icons that we鈥檝e sort of idolized over many generations.鈥 It鈥檚 on Netflix.
鈥 So last week, but the good news is that the Criterion Channel has a new series starting Thursday about some of the 鈥淟ady Bird鈥 and 鈥淏arbie鈥 director鈥檚 favorite films. Gerwig鈥檚 鈥渁dventures in moviegoing鈥 includes David Lean鈥檚 鈥淏rief Encounter,鈥 Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger鈥檚 鈥淭he Red Shoes,鈥 Max Oph眉ls鈥 "The Earrings of Madame de鈥︹ and Claire Denis鈥 鈥淏eau travail.鈥 The channel also has a series on 鈥淚nterdimensional Romance鈥 with films like 鈥淎 Matter of Life and Death,鈥 鈥淲ings of Desire,鈥 鈥淓ternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind鈥 and both versions of 鈥淪olaris.鈥
鈥 And for those who were curious about but not enough to bite the bullet on a movie ticket, it will be streaming on Max starting Friday. In an article about the movie out of the Toronto Film Festival, that this 鈥淒adaist riff on 鈥楾he Parent Trap鈥 鈥 may be the most demented riff on a familiar story yet. The film 鈥 has been called the most gonzo movie of the year. It鈥檚 lewd, ridiculous and surreal. Hanna-Barbera was an inspiration.鈥 Josh Sharp and Aaron Jackson star alongside Bowen Yang as God, Megan Thee Stallion, Nathan Lane and Megan Mullally.

NEW MUSIC TO STREAM
鈥 Bob Marley & The Wailers, The Clash, 鈥 what do these legendary artists have in common? They owe much to Lee 鈥淪cratch鈥 Perry, a pioneer of the dub music scene celebrated as one of reggae鈥檚 founding fathers. Perry (real name Rainford Hugh Perry) 鈥 but during the pandemic, he worked on new music material, which will be posthumously released in his final album, 鈥淜ing Perry,鈥 out Friday. It features guest performances from Greentea Peng, Shaun Ryder, Tricky, Marta, Rose Waite and Fifi Rong. The final track, appropriately titled 鈥淕oodbye,鈥 is Perry鈥檚 final vocal recording 鈥 an ambitious and celebratory song that features Perry repeating his farewell over and over again. It鈥檚 a fitting coda, and still an experiment, bringing his reggae into synth wave, drum鈥檔鈥檅ass, big beat, and electronica. Even in death, Perry is looking towards the future.
鈥 When you鈥檙e done streaming 鈥淭he Greatest Night in Pop鈥 (see above), stay in the musical mid-鈥80s with 鈥淜ings from Queens: .鈥 This Peacock original documentary offers a close look at the early days of Joseph 鈥淩ev Run鈥 Simmons, Darryl 鈥淒MC鈥 McDaniels, and Jason 鈥淛am Master Jay鈥 Mizell's revolutionary group 鈥 finding inspiration in the streets, bringing hip-hop to the masses, and, in doing so, validating and legitimizing what will soon become the most popular style of music 鈥 and assisting in turning it into . Let鈥檚 face it, 鈥淚t鈥檚 Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that鈥檚 right on time,鈥 is both an earworm for the ages 鈥 and some astute musical analysis.

NEW SHOWS TO STREAM
鈥 The new Amazon Prime Video series is not your 2005 鈥淢r. & Mrs. Smith.鈥 Instead, Donald Glover and Maya Erskine star as two stranger spies who meet and are required to marry for their cover. The series was created by Glover and Francesca Sloane, who says she looked to reality TV like 鈥淟ove is Blind鈥 and 鈥90 Day Fiance虂鈥 for inspiration. All eight episodes will be ready to binge on Friday.
鈥 fans are pretty pretty pretty disappointed because the show begins its final season on Sunday on HBO. The irreverent comedy stars Larry David as a fictionalized version of himself who lands in awkward situations at every turn. Recurring favorites Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman, Cheryl Hines, and J.B. Smoove will be back.
鈥 A new Disney+ docuseries called follows the Detroit Youth Choir 鈥 who first made a splash appearing on 鈥淎merica鈥檚 Got Talent鈥 in 2019 鈥 as members audition and prepare to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York. All six episodes dropped Wednesday.
鈥 U.K. comedian Sir Lenny Henry used his own family history to create a BritBox series that follows three women moving from Jamaica to London in the 1950s. Henry says the show鈥檚 immigration story is universally relatable because all immigrants understand that it鈥檚 difficult to start over and build a new life. 鈥淭hree Little Birds鈥 premiered Thursday.
鈥 Past seasons of 春色直播 Geographic鈥檚 鈥淕enius鈥 anthology series covered Albert Einstein, Pablo Picasso and Aretha Franklin. Season 4 focuses on two civil rights legends, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. delves into each man鈥檚 formative years, rise to influence and differing philosophies. The first two episodes dropped Thursday on 春色直播 Geographic. It will also stream on Hulu and Disney+.
鈥 Don鈥檛 worry, 鈥淒ateline鈥 hosts, your jobs are safe. For now. Mike 鈥淭he Situation鈥 Sorrentino of 鈥淛ersey Shore鈥 has entered the chat. He鈥檚 hosting a new true crime show where everyday people who have committed nonviolent crimes tell their story. (Think: A thief who used a hot air balloon as a getaway vehicle.) What鈥檚 more, their statute of limitations has run out so they鈥檙e free and clear to talk. In 2019, Sorrentino served eight months in prison for lying on his taxes. 鈥淪tatute of Limitations鈥 streams Thursdays on platforms including Tubi, YouTube and The Roku Channel.

鈥 England鈥檚 Rocksteady Studios built its reputation on 2009鈥檚 dazzling Batman: Arkham Asylum. Alas, the developer is turning to the dark side of the DC Universe with . Rather than soloing as the Caped Crusader, you鈥檙e now invited to team up with friends as members of Task Force X: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark. What do they have against Superman, the Flash and their buddies? Well, Brainiac has brainwashed the superheroes and now it鈥檚 up to the supervillains to save Metropolis. You can expect guest appearances by the likes of Lex Luthor, the Penguin and the Riddler, and publisher Warner Bros. Games is promising a steady flow of downloadable scoundrels in the future. The brawling begins Friday on PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S and PC.
