NEW YORK (AP) 鈥 Cecilia Vega, more recently ABC鈥檚 chief White House correspondent, is joining the CBS TV newsmagazine 鈥60 Minutes.''
Bill Owens, executive producer of 鈥60 Minutes," called Vega a 鈥渟ensational reporter and storyteller,鈥 in the Thursday announcement. Vega said in the statement that the appointment was a 鈥渄ream come true.鈥
Vega will start at ratings leader 鈥60 Minutes鈥 in the spring as a correspondent.
Vega has led ABC鈥檚 White House coverage since President Joe Biden won the 2020 election. Before that, she was ABC鈥檚 senior White House correspondent covering the Trump administration. Also at ABC, Vega was the lead reporter for Hillary Clinton鈥檚 2016 presidential campaign
Her work has been broadcast on all ABC News platforms, including 鈥淕ood Morning America,鈥 鈥淲orld News Tonight with David Muir,鈥 鈥淣ightline鈥 and 鈥20/20.鈥
Vega joined ABC News in 2011 as a Los Angeles-based correspondent. Before that, she was a reporter for ABC鈥檚 KGO-TV in San Francisco. She got her start as a print reporter, most recently at the San Francisco Chronicle.
